About Our Programs
ABC
Adoption Services, Inc started its International Adoption Program in the
early winter of 1996 for families wishing to welcome into their hearts
and homes children of another culture. The results of the
first small group of prospective adoptive parents wishing to adopt
internationally were placements from Russia and China.
ABC was the first agency in
the Commonwealth of Virginia to become accredited by the
Russian Federation. ABC Adoption offers a program
for adoption in China through our
Eastern Regional office. Virginia families requesting
to adopt from China will be placed in the ABC China
Program.
ABC works in partnership with
Carolina
Adoption Services in Greensboro, North Carolina, for the
placement of children from Russia and the other countries. Through
our close partnership, Carolina Adoption Services, Inc. (CAS)/
ABC Adoption Services, Inc., the quality of life has greatly
improved for children adopted through our international
programs. Individuality and uniqueness of the children’s
international culture is respected. The CAS/ABC agency
goal is to unite parents and children in as smooth a
transition as possible, to help them grow together into a
loving family. CAS has completed adoptions for over 2700
orphans from many international countries.
As
a subsidiary, ABC completes homestudies and post adoption
services for all international referrals to Carolina
Adoption Services for families residing in Virginia. These
services allow adoptive families to have a cooperative, one
agency relationship from the homestudy to the dossier
preparation through post placement services.
CAS
endeavors to keep abreast of all recent developments in the
countries they service. The available children range
in age from infancy to adolescence. One gender may be
more predominant in some countries; sibling groups are also
available.
There are
also many children with Special Needs that languish because they are not considered for
adoption. There are sibling groups available and children
with significant health and developmental challenges waiting
for their families. We can help you find the right child to
bring into your home.
These
children are orphaned or abandoned and are living in either
foster homes or orphanages waiting to be adopted by loving
families in the United States. In some countries, when
a child/children are accepted by a U.S. family, that child
is moved from the orphanage to a foster home to receive
one-on-one attention and care before being placed. Flexibility as to age, sex preference, and the chosen
country will often determine the length of wait. We welcome
your questions and encourage you to consider adoption from
CAS/ABC to fulfill your life and that of a child looking for
a real home.
