Important: A good thing you should consider are the tax credits.
Federal Tax Credit: Currently the federal tax credit offers you a $13,170 deduction from your tax liability. For both the credit and exclusion, qualifying expenses include:
- Reasonable and necessary adoption fees
- Court costs
- Attorney fees
- Traveling expenses

State Tax Credit:
Some states also offer tax benefits if you adopt. Check with your state tax office for more information.
